Gault & Millau gourmet guide
After a relaxing day at the SPA in the lake, enjoy an equally outstanding meal at the gourmet restaurant Poll's Kaiserterrasse, which has won accolades from Gault & Millau. Head chef Hermann Poll and his team attach great importance to regional products and partners when it comes to the dishes and their preparation. Crayfish from the Traunsee, duck liver from the Hausruckviertel region and veal from Abtenau are just some of the ingredients used here.

In its current issue, the Falstaff Guide describes us as follows: "Lake Wolfgang and the Hotel Im Weissen Rössl are a match made in heaven for holidaymakers. First hop into the lake spa, then dine in style and savour Hermann Poll's culinary masterpieces." The guide also awards us 91 points and 3 forks.
A la carte
The A La Carte restaurant guide recently described Poll's Kaiserterrasse as a 'remarkable establishment with an outstanding menu' and awarded it 78 points.
The guide concluded that 'the famous lakeside terrace in the heart of St. Wolfgang is a first-rate tourist draw. The picture-postcard lake views can also been enjoyed from the gourmet restaurant one floor up, where instead of cake and schnitzel, diners can enjoy more refined fare, such as rose veal sweetbreads with cabbage and potato, black-feathered chicken with morels, wild garlic, broad beans and goose liver rice, or alm ox with ox cheek ravioli, cream of parsley and root vegetables. Other triumphs include the tender saddle of lamb, served with sauce béarnaise, asparagus, sliced potatoes and radishes, and the 'Rössling' char from the hotel's own fishing waters, served with creamed potatoes and carrots. The wine cellar has its charms, too, with some 300 bottles.'

"The Hotel Im Weissen Rössl is a St. Wolfgang institution. At this traditional hotel, with three restaurants and the Rösslerei café, they know good coffee. Manager Gudrun Peter doesn't just look for praise in their answers; she also encourages constructive criticism, as this provides a basis for improvement as an employer. "We shouldn't be afraid of feedback from our employees any more than feedback from our guests," she says. "We can learn from both. The same idea applies here: you can't please everyone, but you can optimise what you're doing. Our job is to make people happy, and it doesn't matter whether those people are guests or employees. And when we make our employees happy, they help us make the guests happy, too."
